I'd never even heard of the term BPA free when Wyatt was a baby, so I shouldn't find it surprising that with Edith, there are some new products out on the market...

Ha ha ha! I actually bought this for my daughter when she first started teething as an infant (and, yes, my first reaction was the same as yours). She actually had no interest in it...until about a month ago (she's almost 21 months). Now we had to hide it from her.
