mini-van-ity plates

It was just like those 'December to Remember' commercials where the husband pulls up the driveway with a brand new Lexus RX350 with the red satin ribbon bow-tied around the hood of the car. (Where women like myself are screaming at the television saying 'no freaking way does that really happen'.) My husband surprised me last year, sans the red bow and okay, sans the Lexus, but he did have parked in our driveway, my very own mini-van.

I know that there are mothers out there that swear that they will never own a mini-van, even though all of you mini-van haters have us mini-van mommas snickering at you because you do not know the awesomeness that is remote sliding doors, 16 variety-sized cup holders strategically placed throughout your vehicle, and the capability to hold not 2 or 3, but 4 car seats (with the added bonus of attention from the guy at the car wash saying 'wow, you've been busy'). Mini-van haters, I swear to you that I will not be a mini-van momma that goes over the top with the finishing touch of what I like to call the mini-van-ity plate. I promise to you, you will not have to curse under your breath, throwing your fists in the air because my van will never have the plates: LVMYBZS or SCRMOM. Promise.

Of course this prompted me to search vanity plates. Mine, though I swear I will never do it, would be more like this...

or like this...

or...(with a shout out for Iowa)

Yeah these make my 'manvan' vanity plates seem ultra lame to the 10th degree!

Those are funny. I find myself laughing hysterically sometimes when I drive by a car/van with hilarious plates. And I agree, people who laugh at mini-van owners really haven't lived and experienced the convenience that is a van. I don't really get what's to hate about them, but I guess it's just that image that some refuse to embrace. No problem here though, I LOVE my van!!!

OMG MOVE - that is me... I roll with the punches in the car... but if i could that is what I'd say :)

PS - my super hubby loves his mini-van... his friends made fun of him... until they had kids... guess what? they have mini vans now :P

Yeah, I'm getting on board with minivans. My parents bought one - long after we kids moved out. (What the...?!) Any way, I love it and want one.

Those were great! I'm always up for some vanity plate humor. I also love all the crazy plate frames.

Sliding doors and 16 cup holders? What what? Our truck is a 7 seater but I must admit I am kinda jealous...

I was in the mini van haters club. Now I own one and wouldn't have it any other way. Now with high gas prices I am so glad we didn't go for the gas guzzling SUV.

A girl can still look smokin' in a mini van, right? Maybe not.

I secretly covet minivans. I keep wanting my car to die so I can justify getting one.

I LOVE MY VAN!!!

And I agree all those mom van haters are secretly wishing they had MY van with it's awesomeness!

Ask me again in 3-4 years when all my kids are older...might have switched to hater by then...

We don't even have children, and I envy your sliding doors and 16 cupholders! A friend of mine inherited his parents' minivan in high school, and we were all jealous, even back then. Although, our envy may have stemmed more from the Christmas lights and other accouterments in the back and less from the cupholders.

I need the last one--think of all the drivers that would avoid me in my concealed weapon state ;)

I loved my mini van. Then, I needed to sell it and realized that I only have 2 kids, am not having any more, and should probably downsize considering gas prices. My new car is far less luxurious and my other one wasn't even pimped out or anything.

Honestly, I miss the flip down TV and the space between the kids more than life itself and have almost gotten in three wrecks this week because of the kid's fighting!

Love the plates! Hate the snickering at others, though. I'd hope people are above that, whether they love or hate minivans.

Love it! This makes me really miss my minivan (honda odyssey). We had to sell it to move here. :( But I didn't think I would own one. Once I tried it...... heaven! Love the sliding doors, and the multitude of cup holders... wonderful!

I couldn't agree more! I can't wait to do our favorite things swap... So glad we were paired together!

Awesome post. I laughed out loud at least three times and it's not even that long! Thanks for making my crazy-busy morning brighter. Oh, and see if you can spot the giant typo in the latest magazine. It should be coming tomorrow or the next day.

Love those plates.
Still hate mini-vans.
(though the sliding doors and cup holders do sound appealing)
Can we still be friends?

I want a minivan. A lot. I do.

I love the It Sux Breast Cancer Plate. I wish I could get one of those.

I'm right there with you. This post reminds me of our 10th grade English assignment to create our own license plate!! Do you remember that with Mrs. Turner?? www.saucersrus.blogspot.com

Hahaha, the "OMG MOVE" one would be perfect for me. Seems it'd work better on the front instead of the back, though ;)
