little white lies

The little white lies I tell myself:

-Eating peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon is not really eating.

-Pajama pants actually do make me look thinner.

-My hair looks good in this partially up, partially down, hair half way in a ponytail, the rest hanging out of the sides look; that I must look like 'someone' famous who can pull off the 'just rolled out of bed' look.

-I don't actually need to have coffee with caffeine in the morning; no, decaf is just fine.

-I don't refresh my yahoo page 'that often'.

-The phrase "goin' all Gosselin on (fill in with whomever you are currently freakin' out on)" is a cool phrase and that I should try to incorporate into daily conversations.

-Rolling down the windows and turning up the radio allows me some 'me time' even when the kiddos are in the backseat fighting over some stupid empty coffee cup.

-It's my shoes that stink, not my feet.

-My laundry doesn't need to be folded because I'm just going to wear it and it get dirty, I have to wash it and it end up right back at square one, the laundry basket.

-Not stepping on the scale in the morning makes me happier therefore healthier.

-Not making my bed is actually better than making the bed, it's just a waste of my time and I'm not just being lazy. (Ha, this one is true, I just googled it; yes, about me being lazy but "something as simple as leaving the bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the (dust) mites will dehydrate and eventually die.")

Score one for me.

OMG I tell myself these all the time - my favourite one is the making of the beds!! That only get's done if someone other than family might be coming round!!!

I too have that same hairstyle day in day out....hmmm I thought it did look good!

Just popping in to say hi!!

Not stepping on the scale is healthier then stepping on, because stepping on the scale will cause unnecessory stress and our pajama pants do make us look thinner!!

Thank God, I'm not alone! LOL.

Hahahaha! You are too funny. I'm with you on most of those things. I do like a made bed though, it feels like I've accomplished SOMETHING tangible in my day and it really doesn't take very long. And I don't have kids yet, so the window down is just all about me.

I think I've convinced myself of most of these :)

I tell my husband all the time that it is my shoes and NOT my feet that stink! He never believes me...maybe I will show him your blog! :)

Thank you for validating my anti-bed making decision. The next time my husband complains I'll tell him to google it!
My favorite little white lie is-
"My house was clean yesterday."
Oh and I can't forget-
I can drive a mini van and still be cool.
Fruit smoothies are healthy.
and last but not least-
I can afford six new pairs of shoes.

OMG..you are way funnier than one person should be able to be! LOL. I tell myself I don't spend THAT much time on the internet..pff..yeah right!

I really needed that laugh today...little one is jumping off the walls!

It's good to know that my not making the bed every morning is healthy for me! Who knew??

And I'm totally going to start using the "going all Gosselin on (whoever) phrase! I'll make sure and say I got it from you though :)

I'm cracking up.

My shoes stink, too!

And, folding laundry and making the bed are definitely in the same category. What's the point?

Where are you buying your pajama pants if they make you look thinner? I must have some!

Those are great... I think I could relate with nearly every one of them!

The unmade bed thing cracked me up. I am so lazy....

Can I add "cleaning the living room isn't a good use of time because it will just get dirty again tomorrow".

this is so great. I'm feeling much better now!

Sooo...what you're telling me is that these pajama pants don't make me look thinner?

Crap!

And I, too, can relate to...ohhh...just about every other one on your fab list--ha!

I like the one about the bedsheets, it actually makes sense.

That really made me laugh - Thanks! Especially the stinky feet bit, I must try that one....

I was with you right up to making the bed... that's the one thing I do *every* day.

Ugh!

OK.... that last one... made me really think out loud. Why should I feverishly make everyones beds in the morning. LOL.

Congrats on your blog award. I got one too from our Tater Tot Mom friend. Love your funny stuff. I think a half a jar of peanut butter is a very healthy meal....that's why I don't trust myself to have it in the house!
Thanks for the fun!

I love, love, love your lies.

Pssst, I tell myself a lot of these same lies. The "my shoes, not my feet" comment is just on time!

Darn it....

and I have been telling myself that a spoon full of peanut butter DOES count as food, cause I give it to the kids sometimes as a lazy dinner/snack..LOL!

Oh well...work it whichever way!

Yes! A scientific reason to not make the bed. Thank you, you just made my day.

- I'm not addicted to facebook/blogging...

I tell myself some of the same things. You mean they're lies????

Anonymous said...

Aw yeah! Yay for me then too because the laundry really doesn't ever need to be done! Nor does the bed need to be made...and what's with tucking the sheet into the bottom of the bed. It's so pointless because you only rip it out with your feet during the night when it gets hot so that your feet can breathe. Therefore, absolutely absurd to tuck in anything!

I like the scale lie especially. I totally agree. Also loving the pretending to be someone famous part. I love pretending to be a disheveled celebrity when I venture out of my house for coffee on the weekends! I even make poutty lips for the papparazzi. So glam!

Yay I have a purpose for not making the bed, b/c I am allergic to everything, thank you!

Happy SITS day! And love the little white lies. I am guilty of the ponytail, too. And now I am off to go find someone who is irritating me. I'm going to go all Gosselin on him...

Mary-Jane said...

Ralph Lauren also encouraged the unmade bed movement... well I think I read that somewhere and have held onto it..

Rebecca said...

Wait, you said the first one is a lie? Uh-oh, I'm in big trouble (and it may explain why I agree with you on pajama pants and the scale too).
