The Dream Killer

My husband called: "I'm at the costume store looking at costumes. Let's dress up for Halloween!"

Me: "No." End of discussion or so I hoped.

Him: "You are the biggest lame-o". He sometimes likes to call me 'The Dream Killer'.

Me: "It's just not fun for me anymore, plus it's a huge waste of money."

Him: "Come on, the kids will love it. Halloween is on a Saturday night. You don't have any good excuses to not dress up".

I told him "Fine, just pick something out, but make sure that it's under 20 bucks."

My husband comes home, sits down at the dinner table, ready to eat. I ask him to show me the costumes he's picked out. He gets excited "You want to see them, huh?". I'm thinking, 'wow, this must be something really good'. He rushes down the stairs; back into the garage, opens and slams the car door shut and makes his way back up the stairs with this in his hand.

I've officially lost all of my sex appeal. I'm the mother of his children...

and come Halloween, this crazy, sexy ladybug.

And to top it off, it was 30 bucks, not 20.

Sexy halloween costumes are for lame-os (and dream killers). I like the lady bug. She's got a great personality.

... a great personality, and JAZZ HANDS to boot!!!!

I love the jazz hands!!! Its the other way around in our house, I dress up, my hubby WILL NOT! But I don't push. I don't buy the expensive costumes, I let the boys pick what I will be and then I figure out a way to do it cheaply.

Aww it's cute, and your kids Will love it! If you need to feel something other than cute, just think of your husband as an aphid since lady bugs love to terrorize and devour them ;)

Haha! I am glad my husband is not into Halloween costumes!!

whoo hoo! you are gonna be one sexy ladybug! What a good sport. What did he pick out for himself?

That's hot.

hahaha...seriously though! Have fun! I'm sure the kids will get a kick out of it! :)

You will be the cutest/sexiest lady bug around I am sure!

It would be just the opposite in our house, I would be the one that would come home for costumes for both of us. I can't ever imagine my husband doing that.

That is just plain hilarious!

I think you'll be a cute ladybug and heh it could be worse, right?

You'll have to start plotting your revenge and make him let you pick next years costume! :)

Ha! Ha! It's even better than I was imagining! I was laughing so hard I still have tears streaming down my face! So worth the 30 bucks!
And who cares if its less than sexy, if all your body parts are covered then that creepy guy that answers the door while you're trick-or-treating won't have anything to stare at.
Can't wait to see pictures of the whole family dressed up and ready to go...!
Happy Halloween!

I think you should come to bed wearing it on Halloween night seeing as that what he thinks is attractive for you? No lingerie for him, just one hot ladybug mama.

I have to say, I am opposite! It is always my husband that does not want to dress up...but I sure as heck would never want to wear that costume!! Yikes! The hat thing is just...amazing...HAVE FUN WITH THAT!

I'm sure selecting a Halloween costume for ones wife is a dangerous proposition for a man. If he buys a french maid costume, he's in trouble, if he buys an a-sexual frumpy one (like say... a lady bug) he's in bigger trouble... LMAO, you'll look so cute!

holy hideous. what did he get for himself?

Now see I would like that! I'm all about being covered up and that expands beautifully to allow for a great deal of candy ingestion. :)

That costume is the opposite of sexy. What the fuck was he thinking? If my husband were crazy enough to pick out a costume for me without my explicit instructions he would come home in something so tight and revealing that I'd need to somehow affix those black censor bars to it just to wear it out of the house.

Ouch! Let's just try to focus on the good things, like your anniversary or the way he almost burned your house down for love AND lust.

On the other hand, I'm a little jealous that he found a ladybug costume that big (sucker looks ginormous!). We purchased one for Mad and it had to be mismarked or made for people in a small toddler dimension or something.

OMG!!! I just read your response about his costume. I almost hyperventilated BEFORE checking the link. Oh no he dih-ent!

Help! I looked at the link. I think I'm having an asthma attack (ahem... well, except all the laughter probably means I'm not). As Madelyn has taken to saying, "Wowee... wowee."

Thanks for the laugh. I have tweeted this.

Was this his idea of getting you to LIKE dressing up for Halloween?

Still giggling...

My hubby likes to call me Mama Buzz Kill (but usually only when he calls me from Gander Mountain all twitterpated about a shot gun sale).
Ladybug huh? Hmmm....I like the fact it looks big and baggy and requires no skin to show. It IS that time of year in MN where we begin dressing like Nanook of The North. sI'll bet the ladybug is beautiful on the INSIDE.
I went all out this year. I bought a headband with flashing devil horns from the Dollar Store. I feel it fits my mood lately... :)

Have to tell you... guess what Benj brought home last night for our Halloween costumes (and he didn't even know about your Lady Bug costume): bees! We're going to an Iowa game and we're both going to be bumble bees! So we're all going to be "buggin'" this Halloween! Woot!
Love, A

Ahh, you're a great sport. I'm married to the Dream Killer. Since we've been together I haven't dressed up once. I just live vicariously through my kids and ake them BAD ASS costumes every year. I often make them for friends as well. (however, as far as my costumes have gone, I am a costumes SNOB and would spend between 50-150 bucks making them then donating them to the theater)

Wow. What was HIS costume??

Stopping in from SITS. Hope you had a nice Christmas and that you didn't have to dress up as the Christmas Tree or something. :-)
