Umm, yes. I do love me some chocolate.
What I don't love? The 5 pounds that I gain overnight from eating said chocolate.
My bargaining chip this year, Metro Dentalcare's Candy Buy-Back program. They will conveniently take those (up to) 3 pounds of candy (that would have certainly otherwise been 3 pounds added to areas like my butt, my thighs, my back fat....) and turn it into cash instead.
And yes, I like cash more than chocolate.
It's really only for kids 12 and under and they (the kids) will get to keep the cash (not me). I plan on telling my kids they each can buy 3 things at the Dollar Store with their cash. It will be just like I'm Santa. Oh, the power!
I learned a few things from the Metro Dentalcare YouTube channel too, like it's better to eat candy with a meal (My kids would be all over having a side of Skittles right next to the carrots on their dinner plates.) and that it's better to eat your treats all in one sitting (I *knew* shoving candy into my mouth made way more sense than savoring it!). Check it out, there is plenty of great information about brushing, flossing, going to the dentist too.
Join the movement: stop spoiling our children with Halloween candy, turn in
But that's not all! (I feel like I'm the announcer on the Price is Right)
Metro Dentalcare is giving away one (1) Sonicare toothbrush to one of my reader (U.S. only). You know the rules; leave a comment, follow me and leave a comment, twitter this post and leave a comment.
I didn't get paid for this post. I didn't get a Sonicare toothbrush either (though I'd like one). I just get to have this warm, gushy feeling for helping you 1) not gain any Post-Halloween weight 2) putting $3 into your child's pocket for more junk in your house 3) saving your children's teeth/ reducing your dental insurance premiums 4) oh yeah, and teaching them about donations and helping others.
Happy Halloween. Now stop spookin' me with all your lurking and go enter this giveaway.

Stopped by from SITS, nice to meet you. I'll be stuffing the candy in my pockets and running for the hills before they get a chance to sell it... ;O) I'm in the UK anyway, so a great excuse! x
Halloween candy and Toothbrushes go hand in hand!
I could use a sonic toothbrush, my dentist keeps wanting me to have one :)
I follow too!
Money for candy....hmmm...I might still eat mine.
But, I do need new toothbrush:)

Your blog never ceases to amuse me. :) I wish I could sell our candy back here...after I snag all the reeses pieces and skittles out of course. :)
PS...I'm already a follower! :)
Do you have a problem with lurkers?
Very informative post! I think my kids would like the side of skittles next to their broccoli too! It would be like heaven on their plate.
I no longer have the devouring my kids candy problem anymore. I can't eat sugar of any kind so their Halloween candy just sits and sits and sits. And then I throw it away. Getting 3 bucks would be WAY better!
And who wouldn't love a sonic care toothbrush? I know I would.
Hey, thanks for stopping by yesterday! And yes that pic was edited at Picnik (of course) but mostly it was just me flexing my awesome photography skills. Just Kidding, it was a total accident, I was shooting out of a very fast moving van (was that an oxymoron?) and happened to catch it at the right moment.
Wow, I will need one of those after I eat all of my kiddos Halloween candy!
I am already a follower!

We are a total Sonicare family---I am BIG believer and won't using other toothbrushes. I would love my younger kids to have one :)
And of course I follow you :)
And now I am twittering your post under LisainDallas
No friggen way... that candy is MINE. I don't buy all that candy and then pretend to not be home when the kids ring my doorbell for nothing. "Gee we just didn't get that many tick or treaters this year?"
I would love a new toothbrush, since ours just broke!
What a great idea!!! Unfortunately my kids are too young to get the give the candy get cash concept. They are still digesting the idea of knocking on someone door and yell "trick or treat" they are going to get candy in return.
May in a couple of years from now....
Stopped by from SITS!
Mmmm, Halloween Candy.
I love the stuff.
My kids are odd and don't like it as much. I mean, they'll eat a few pieces and then be all, "Done!"
brilliant idea!!
and if i had a sonicare toothbrush i am pretty sure i would never leave the bathroom :)
I know one mom who takes half the kids candy, stores it away and uses it to fill their Christmas stockings. Yeah, I hate gaining the weight too.
I just gave my son an electric toothbrush and I'm jealous! I'd love one too. :)
I'm a follower, of course!
Ummm I wouldn't think to take away the kids candy. Good thing we dont' have this offer here.
I don't think I could talk my daughter into trading away her candy if I tried. But we will do a great job with the brushing!
I've never heard of this but sounds good...I think...not sure yet...the candy is calling me already! Eat Me!
Sounds like an awesome program!!
AWESOME! Pick me. Pick me. Pick me. (we live just down the road from Metro Dental Care). Despite what they say, I do not have a cavity. It is just a slight imperfection in my molar that looks like a black hole on x-ray. :-)
I *refuse* to sell my kids' candy to Metro Dental Care. Of course, that's simply due to the 2000 mile or so drive to get $3.
Instead I'll be sticking with my own Halloween tradition, which is taking a massive bowl of our own leftovers and most of the kids' haul to work. Then maybe the jerkwad... erm... I mean *person* who always brings donuts will know what it's like. Ha!
Maybe this year I'll have the will power to stay out of their candy while they sleep (shh, don't disrupt the fantasy with your laughing).
They aren't turning around and selling the three pounds of candy for $6, are they? That would be a good deal for them if they did.
OK, so maybe we'll actually do this this year. Sell the candy back... Hmm...
Our librarians keep a stash of old Halloween candy for hungry teachers and students. If I lived in the Twin Cities, though, it would be a toss-up!
And I'm a follower from way back. :)
Hey Beth. I'd love to win that toothbrush. :)
Hi there! Found you through the giveaways listing on 'A Nut in a Nutshell'. I would love to win the Sonicare toothbrush. Thanks!
Happy Halloween!
Sounds like a pretty cool program! I'm nowhere close to any of the metro dentalcare locations, so i'm definitely out but nonetheless, a really interesting concept.
oh yeah, i'm also a new follower of your blog :)
