longing the non-long lawn

I have to admit that I'm jealous. I peek through my blinds at the neighbor's gorgeous green lawn, half tempted to run out there, shouting at the Chem Lawn guy when he's there 'hey, you've got the wrong house... it's over here', waving him over to my yard.

When we are on walks, my kids point out nice lawns to me (yes, I'm hanging my head in shame). 'Mom, that's a nice green one!' 'Can we touch it?'

I snap back with a quick 'No!', touching it would ruin it's lines. I especially like it when they are mowed in a diagonal direction.

But my husband is one of those all-natural guys. All-natural and trimmed long.

At least dandelions add some pop.

Somewhere in this post should be a crack about my husband liking his lawn like he likes his women, natural and untrimmed, but that wouldn't necessarily be true.

When I go to my friend's house I want to roll up her entire lawn and bring it to my house leaving her with only dirt. Her lawn is manicured and perfect. I'm partially mowed my almost acre of lawn. It takes a lot of time and I haven't had much of that lately. I have dandelions all over too! Oh my goodness, those eyes are gorgeous!!

Hilarious, Beth! {Specifically the last line!}

My husband is OCD about our lawn. Sometimes I wish we had some dandelions or something besides green carpet! haha

My lawn is full of brown dog patches and all of this rain has washed away my grass seed.

You crack me up! I have never had a pretty lawn, and probably never will. Oh well...

Hey, we got have cute kids, right? So much more important. :)

Hilarious! Not the lawn, but the husband comment..I was totally waiting for it.

So, you mean dirt patches where grass should be isn't really acceptable?

Our husbands seem to share the same dichotomous views on unkempt lawns and kempt women :)

Seriously though, we just have to shift the whole paradigm--like how people used to say "healthy tan", so we are doing our part for the earth by never watering, letting the native ground cover rip, and only mowing enough to keep with city code; hey it's the least we can do!

My husband is so natural and green he actually mows with a manual lawn mower - like the old fashioned kind? I'm used to it now and think it's great.

Bwwwwaaa! You make me laugh! Awesome! Our lawn is impeccably manicured but natural in that we don't use spray (except Roundup in certain spots) or fertilizer! My hubby is super picky about the lawn looking nice which is Awesome b/c that means he does MOST of the mower! Woot!

Lol! It used to be our lawn was well kept. Now that my husband has to take care of the baby on his day offs coz that's when I go to work, our lawn is full of dandelions that my son just love to play with. Love your photos. You have very beautiful kids. I love your idea of anti-supermom. I'm in! Your newest follower. Thanks for stopping by!

If I recall, he prefers to set his woman on fire, which I'd imagine could take care of the trimming. But hey, fire's natural!

Man, I'm nervous about this whole "lawn" thing. As of Sundeay, we own a house on a 1/2-acre lot...I just know we're going to be the losers with weeds. =/ But, hey, we'll be losers with personality!

Lol-natural and untrimmed- too funny! Love her eyes in that second pic- wow! We totally had the same problem with our yard until we hired some landscapers- best money spent ever!
