special treat

I'm often astounded by some of the things I see when I go home. Remember, I'm a good ol' Iowa girl, raised in twenty acres of wooded 'stuff' with just my siblings and our large satellite dish to keep me company. You would think I wouldn't be surprise by much, afterall my physical education teacher called me 'Buns' and my after school past-time included walking to the outer edge of town only to eat fried cheese curds at the convenient store that also conveniently made food to order. (Oh, how I miss that ability to eat anything fried and not feel it immediately go to my gut or my butt.) Good times at the Pit Stop.

So browsing through the local paper yesterday, I spied an ad that catches my eye.

WTF?

Was that suppose to be a fun play on words: imagine some high schooler giving a high-five for getting digits from some hottie in hot pants: 'You Dog!'

Yep...

Nope.

For the bargain price of $.50 per leg, (yes, people are less expensive than dogs) you and your BDF (best dog friend) can swim together in the public pool. You might have a little dog hair attached to your nether regions when you climb up the ladder from the deep end of the pool, but heck, that's what you get when you pay half the price as your canine friends.

Consider the dog hair your own 'special treat'.

Ha! I love tongue-in-cheek ads... especially when they weren't intentional!

Ahhhh...c'mon. LOTS of towns do this at the end of the pool season, B! But I do think it's sort of gross, like letting your dog lick the plates when you're loading the dishwasher, but in defense of our dear town I will say that the pool is then drained, cleaned, and closed for the season! :)
P.S. Our new site is live!

That's a pretty funny ad. However, I'm pretty sure I'd skip out on dog at the pool day!

So I wonder if the dogs would pee in the pool more or less than the kids? ;)

EEEEEWWWW...This is so gross, I don't really like dogs, and just thinking of dog hair stuck to me is wrong in soo many ways!!!

Our public pool did a "Doggie Paddle" last year. 2 legged 'animals' were not allowed to swim with the dogs. Some people wrote to the paper about how nasty having the dogs in the pool was, but the whole point of it was to raise funds for the local animal shelter. And HELLO....they drained and cleaned the pool after! Our dogs had their pics in the paper and on the internet from the doggie paddle!

Thanks.

Ewwww, the idea of swimming in a PUBLIC pool with dogs is just beyond ick to me. But if that is your thing, you can't beat the price lol.

Whoa... did you say FRIED cheese curds? YUM!

OMG that is so hilarious! I understand wanting to let the dogs swim but I don't get swimming with the dogs. I suppose it can't be more gross than swimming in the pee drenched water of a local swimming pool though!

Just another reason to keep your mouth shut when swimming in a public pool.

I am kind of grossed out. The idea of wet dog hair all over my skin just gets me. I am fine in a lake but in a pool...lets just say I would not be jumping in! I have joined your followers!

Well now that was a truly disturbing post. I have scuba dived (or should it be dove?) in a public pool. And trust me there are LOTS of special treats at the end of the swimming season just floating around in the water. I've seen various sizes of bandaids, boogers, hair drifting in clups, tampons, and other things that made my skin crawl. So now someone is suggesting adding flea infested, butt licking animals to the mix, I think I'd have to say, NO *&%$*^# way.

I don't know, that really doesn't sound that great to me at all. But I'm not much of an animal person, lol.

Found you through SITS! :)

I saw this at OUR Pool too! And I had the same reaction. Only maybe a little vomit in the mouth to go along with it. Soooo gross. I prefer a dog hair free butt crack thank you very much! And I know someone who lets their Dogs lick the plates. And I couldnt stop feeling sick to my GUT the whole time AFTER we ate dinner at their house! *shudders*
Stopping by From SITS, like your place you have here! =)
