goodie bag

Definition: a bag containing candy, small toys, or other gifts given to party-goers or attendees of an event; also written goodie bag

also can referred to as:

'Oh, GOODY! I have more junk to throw in the trash BAG when the kids aren't looking'.

At the defense of the parents, (who I'm pretty sure don't know about my blog, but let's just cover the bases) they didn't put together these bags, they were part of the 'let us do everything for you' package from here. Read: you can't bring in your own drinks, pizza, etc. so we can charge you an arm and a leg for ours.

Henry has another party there tomorrow night.

Can you feel my excitement?

We get that junk EVERYWHERE. Boo Boo packs it into every princess purse, ikea box, etc. she can find.

Her preschool sends it home seemingly weekly!

I had a joint bday party for my daughter w/a friend of hers, and the other mom thought we to do goodie bags, but I didn't want to. Compromise: Chick-fil-A gift cards in small increments -- about enough for a kids' meal.

Ah yes. Goodie bags. Can I even tell you how many landfills are crying right now because of all of the goodie bag junk we have received and then contributed to them? Ugh.

Do you really want me to rant about goody bags again? No, no you don't.

This is why I try to put stuff people can USE in goodie bags when I bother to do them... like pencils so their kids can do their damn math homework LOL

OMG that place is super expensive!! We just shared a party for our son there and they charge extra for each goody bag that is handed out so both families said NO and you know what we didn't hear one kid ask for it or complain about not getting it. I'm with Jayme IF I'm gonna spend time and/or money on them they better have things we can use in them. It's so nice to know there are other mom's out there on the same side :)

LOL!! You are right one with defintion number two. I opt for definition number two almost always. I cannot remember the last time a goodie bag had something in it that my little one actually could use.

LOL... I had to educate my husband on why we were NOT including pencils in Mad's goody bags last month. Mentioned you by name, haha. We did chalk, bubbles, sponge balls and a blower thing. Two kids left theirs behind. I thought maybe I didn't notice you were here?

I am mortified to admit I have done the goodie bags myself with crap in them...and last year I finally decided to just skip it. I'm sure some kids/parents were looking for them/wondering why we didn't do it....but I'd felt like I HAD to....the last year I did favors I got gift certificates to Baskin Robbins. So at least that wasn't total crap. Who doesn't love ice cream?

I like it when goodie bags contain chocolate.

Following from SITS. Cool blog. I am not a big fan of goodie bags. I would rather send them home with a little potted plant to take care of or a craft that they made at my kid's party.
