So, what do I get from Henry this year:
Picked out by my six year old, even after much pressure from my husband that 'maybe a simpler card would be more suitable', Henry insisted this was the card for me. (I imagine it must have been the 'tougher love of correction' and the 'rougher love of hard truth' that spoke to him.)
And what did my dearest get me this Valentines Day, a practical potted plant of tulips.
He knows me so well.

Awwww! Totally sweet!
Tulips are amazing--and genius idea for them to be potted!
xo
I'm a practical gal too and I blogged about it today. What a sweet little boy to get his mom a Valentine. Never have had that from any of my kids.
Good job Anti-Superdad. (haha. do you ever call him that on here? I don't think so.)
It took my hubby about 10 years to completely forgo the mushy, unuseful gifts. This year's gift was a tree to be planted in a St. Paul park (since we have no yard for a tree of our own). How cool is that?
aw, that is so sweet. I love the potted tulips. Very sweet.
We ignore Valentine's as much as possible at our house. Although I did get a new iPod Touch over the weekend. The hubby and I pretended it was a V-day gift.
Coming from your children, that card is actually really, really adorable and sweet!!!
I've missed you too!!!!!!
I actually really liked the cover... "What can you get a mother whose heart is as big as the universe?" Man, what a sweet sentiment and how awesome that was the card Henry insisted on getting you!
So, what was your reaction to the card?
I think the tulips are a great gift. I'm all for practicality, too, and they are perfect. They are beautiful yet sustaining and useful.
Tulips! Ooooh, what a fantastic idea! They're just gorgeous!! Good job, Anti-Superdad!!
That's so sweet and I love the tulips! Sounds like a great day!
I just love the photo of you on the front of the card. So sweet.
:-)
Fun! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog on my SITS Day. And what a wonderful day it was! I don't do many giveaways (they are kinda of a pain-in-my-drain) but I am doing a cool one now. Pop by and enter to win! http://www.franticmommy.blogspot.com
love me some tulips.
My daughter is pretty good at picking out cards too. :)
I can see Henry giving you that (and some PVC piping too). :-)
your guys did well, Ms. Practicality (I'm the same way :D
It's nice to see that someone else missed the mushy gene. I have no side other than practical.
I love that he gave you tulips that you can plant outside in the spring.
Sounds like a great VD!
BTW how did you get that awesome post divider?
wow, I think I would have cried... that is so sweet. It wouldn't have mattered if I thought he picked it because he thought the card was pretty or that he didn't understand most of what is written... but I guess I'm not as practical as you.
That's some Valentine's love right there!
I love this. Because this is a child thinking "This is perfect for Mom!" From a fellow practical wife.
The tulips are gorgeous and I love that your son chose the card...so sweet!
