They have become the bane of my existence. I will literally have lost years off my life waiting for my son to put them on his feet. Instead of getting his shoes on, to actually make it on-time for preschool, he sits on the bottom step, staring off into the unknown looking like he is contemplating world peace or the next big invention. (Prior to having children, I might have thought that Velcro might be considered one of those big inventions. Not so much anymore.)
Unfortunately, a mere four months later, these shoes now look like this...
So not only are the shoes making me lose years that I can never get back (many of those spent in minutes sprinting to the preschool classroom) they are a financial strain, seriously I should not have to go through more than one pair of shoes per season.
Do you think negative 23 below is too cold for sandals? Those still look like new.
(Yes, I'm currently accepting pity comments for the temperature here in Minnesota.)

DANG that's cold! Our warm weather has disappeared. It is now pretty chilly outside. In Minnesota terms, it would be spring, but here in the South, it sucks. LOL
TRy washing to shoes in the washer (alone); it's loud but gets the shoes clean :)
Sorry for your weather--days like these I wonder why the rest of America stays in the North ;)
Just stopped from SITS to say good morning! Sorry about the cold and perhaps you should wait just a few more days for the sandals.
I bet those bad boys still light up.
My sons are wearing sandals... no wait...that's not a pity comment is it? It's gloating. Brrr it's 60 degrees outside and it's only 7 am... Oh my, there I go again... I'm no good at these pity comments ;)
Wow that's cold! And, nope, sandals are fine..just add socks, right?
We are starting to wear shoes out before outgrowing them, too!
I feel your cold. I am at -17 up here in Canada and your cold front is on its way here. Hopefully it goes south of us!
Oh that totally sucks. The wearing out of shoes before the end of the season and yes, the weather! YIKES!
Nothing like the midwest to make you remember that you are freezing your ass off right? :)
Hoping for above 0 temps tomorrow!
What sucks about that is, if you are like me, it is hard to find shoes you like for them to wear. Maybe I'm just too picky. I can never seem to find anything I like, or that matches everything. Hmmm, maybe it's not a shoe problem but a mommy problem.
My oldest (8 yo) goes through shoes like crazy, not the other two boys...yet. As for the Minnesota weather...My husband is from Minnesota and sure is glad he left right now. But, all his family (except his immediate family) are still there and they have been taking turns visiting Texas to get a break from the cold. Try to stay warm!!
Well, the shoes don't look that bad at all!! I've seen far worse :-) In my own house!
I'm in Ottawa, Canada, so yes, I feel your pain as I look outside tonight and see bits of ice forming on the INSIDE of my kitchen window. Hoping my car starts in the morning, lol . . .
Our kids seem to outgrown them before they can wear them out.
I can't believe you bought light-up shoes. Crazy girl.
And, if you ever figure out how to get kids to put their shoes on quickly and avoid that "stare into space" time sucker, let me know.
Hate to do this to you, but I got photo tagged and I tagged you in my post. Sorry if you hate these type of things...
