IRL

IRL. In Real Life. This little abbreviation has been swarming around my head since I first heard of it a month or so ago. IRL. IRL. In. Real. Life. In real life, this is me. My blog isn't a lie, there aren't any falsehoods about me or my family (though honestly, sometimes dates have been changed because I have some posts waiting in the wings, but who doesn't?). That said, blogging is about being whoever you want to be. Some people use false names, some don't include pictures of themselves or sometimes, their children. I'm more than okay with that, that is what makes blogging wonderful, it's your blog, not mine.

In my real life, I have friends that don't read my blog. I wish that they did. I so often think that blogging is my platform for being who I really am. My day is filled with opening the door and promptly being nice to parents, talking with an infant, toddlers and a preschooler during my day and quietly finishing my day with cleaning, reading, blogging, watching television...

In my real life, I have blogging friends who I will more than likely never meet, but you know the real me. I too, feel like I know the real you. I've laughed and smiled and cried and loved right along with so many of you. Thank you for that, my IRL friends.

I'm thankful for you all. Happy Thanksgiving.

Well said! Some of my friends IRL are starting to discover my blog. It's funny when they start to laugh about a particular post. It kinda throws me for a loop.

Have a great Thanksgiving!! :)

Be YOU baby.. I heart you.. the way you write, your honesty, humor, wit 9(is there an H or 2 Ts in this word?), your ideas. I think these are 3 little words (or letters) that give you power. The power to connect with others. And if your "real" life friends don't read it.. welcome to the club babe! I can't even get my DH to read mine. Or when he does (reference open letter to my boobies) he says, well that is girl funny. ARGH! Thanks for blogging, I need the YOU in your blog.

Very well said. Sometimes I feel kind of , I don't even know, when I talk about my friend so-n-so and it's a blog or board friend and someone asks how I know them. I explain, they snicker.. Who cares, right?! Well, people don't see online friends the same way as a lot of people do. Oh well.
I feel exactly the same way you do, though. I laugh, cry, smile and go through emotions with other people.
I, too, have friends that don't read my blog and sometimes I think about frwarding them the link and then I realize I don't want them to read it. It's mine. i have couple of friends that do read it as well as some family members and thoseare the ones I wish didn't read it. I feel censored so many times because I have people reading it that I would feel embarrassed if I said certain things
Oh well. Happy Turkey Day (unless you're a vegetarian.. then Happy Tofurkey Day! LOL)

I always tell my husband that it amazes me I don't meet more people in real life, but yet I meet a ton via blogging. Okay, not a ton, but mote than in real life!
Here's hoping you have a great Thanksgiving!

So true.

I've shared mine with my RL friends, but I don't think they care.

I think my bloggy friends like me more:)

Have a great turkey day!

Totally get what you said friend!! Totally get it. How is it possible that I often feel closer to my blog buddies than my IRL ones?? Might be that I actually have two minutes to "Talk" to you??

Oh, and if you ever make it to AZ, we are so meeting up, just so you know!! :)

Happy Turkey Day!!

That's awesome, and I totally agree. I'm fortunate b/c most of my IRL friends read my blog too, so they always kind of "get" me (I hope, lol). I'm glad you've found an outlet that you're so comfortable being yourself - many bloggers aren't. I've always felt reading your blog that I quickly and easily got a good sense of exactly who you were - no fake stuff, no pretending . . . and that's what makes me like you so much :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

So true. I often don't tell people (IRL family/friends) about things because I guess I just assume everyone reads my blog. It's where I talk about some pretty intimate feelings. It's where I can just be ME. It's the place where my daily life goes on paper (err...screen).

"If I can't lie to you people who can I lie to?" can't take credit for that but I read it in a post once and it made me laugh whether your lying or being honest I'm grateful for my nemesis.

Hope you had a great one.

Yes, well said. Sometimes I wish I hadn't put my name on my blog or let my family know about it. When the real me comes out in blazing colors on the blog, they get all weird. I want to tell them to stop reading if they don't like it. After all, the blog is for me, not them!

My blog is where I can be the real me, without any pretense or worry about what people will think. If you read my blog, you probably know me better than the people I know "IRL". It's so incredibly liberating to have this space.

i agree with you ...
irl friends sometimes don't really know who you are. writing exposes that. it's one of the reasons that i dislike when people i know read. makes me a wee bit uncomfortable ... a reason to have a secret blog.
and i'm close enough to have a meet up someday! when i want to venture out in this FREEZING COLD WEATHER.
ugh. i know you understand.
