just like Windex, only better

Remember the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, where her dad was always running around spraying Windex on 'things' that needed fixing like that huge a$$ pimple or that cut on a hand.

Well, Edith had an eye infection (okay... you twisted my arm, here's a picture of her, nearly 2 months old)

and like any good (and logical) mother I googled what an infection could mean, like possible childhood blindness (see, logical) and found out that a lot of people were suggesting squirting your breast milk into her infected eye.

And you know what, it was gone in two days.

Then I was at a festival this weekend showcasing Edy to a friend. (Alright, alright, one more picture.)

(I can hear your ovaries from here, people!)

My friend noticed that Edy scratched herself between the eyes and she leaned over saying 'you know what good for those scratches... breast milk, it will be gone by morning'.

I had no idea that this stuff was so powerful. Way more than liquid gold, I feel like I've got the cure for male patterned baldness, for aching joints, for impotence

(okay, so maybe not impotence).

Got something that ails you, come on over, I'll give you a little squirt of the good stuff ;)

Oh, thanks for sharing the Edy pictures....she's getting so big and she's precious!

And, I did the milk thing with the girls, too. Unfortunately, it didn't help with the clogged ducts:(

Seriously? Breast milk has healing properties like that? That's awesome!

I wish I had known THAT!!! She got scratched by our kitty once and it took a bit to heal.

Bwahahaha! I'm not even sure how to respond to that! How funny!!!

I never had enough leftover to use it for healing purposes. My son inhaled it.

LOL! My friends and I were just talking about this the other day. I was told (but never actually tried) to put breastmilk on my daughter's bottom when she had horrible diaper rash. It's the magic cure-all, I guess. ;)

I got pinkeye twice while still nursing. The breast milk helped me more than the dumb drops.

Oh and those were my ovaries. Sorry!

First of all OMG the pictures! SO SO SO CUTE! Beautiful. And I'm done having kids! Don't make me change my mind!
Also, hilarious. And breastmilk is much better than Windex!

lol. I've heard about using breast milk to get rid of eye infections, but didn't know it was good for cuts and scrapes too. I wish it lasted longer in the freezer...
Edy is adorable, btw - and I love her hat!

Thanks for the baby-fix. She is adorable. I am not having anymore, but I love looking at baby pics. My baby boy is getting into the cute toddler underwear phase. Wish they made big girl panties with cartoon characters on them. I don't know how I got to your blog, but I have enjoyed reading your post.

Okay I snorted when I read that last line. I never knew it was so powerful. She is so adorable!!

That whole Windex schtick is still bantered about in our house. It is one of the funniest parts of the film. I now have a mental picture of you running around squirting your boob at everybody!

I know God is good, and I totally think He has a sense of humor, so the whole breast milk is the cure-all thing wouldn't surprise me.

Edy, BTW, is more adorable with every picture you post. We're expecting at least 15 grandchildren since my hubby has told each of our sons they need to have a minimum of 3 kids each. I am waiting to have 15 granddaughters, because like I said, God has a sense of humor! (Really, I just hope it's more than one so I don't irrationally spoil one child too much!)

My husband walked in one day, as I was squirting breast milk into my newborns eye. He was freaking out, till the next day, when he saw that her infection was gone.

Yeah, he bragged to all his buddies that I was full of liquid gold. :)

When I started reading this, I was thinking, "Does Beth know about the miracles of breast milk?" We use it for a lot of things - baby face scratches and eye infections are just the beginning. I'm not joking.

From an evolutionary standpoint, doesn't it make sense? Mothers whose milk could help babies heal were more likely to have babies who survived, right? And, think about when a baby nurses - all that milk that pours all over their face? I can see how evolution worked in favor of breast milk healing things like eye infections.

So, I see you are enjoying your new camera. What are your tricks? Do you find the key to photos like yours of Edy are the camera, settings, and light, or do you think it's the processing of the photos?

p.s. My ovaries were not moved. I think my ovaries have all curled up and died with exhaustion. I'm sorry, but even Edy can't make me want any more children.

LMAO!!!!! I remember that movie and I loved that part!!! Now what else are you trying to fix by squirting?!

Ps.. Edith is so adorable. She is like a baby in ads, she is THAT pretty!!!

LOVE this one! I squirted breastmilk up my 6 week old sons nose just last night because his older terror (umm, I mean brother) made the saline drops disappear.

Edy's a doll.
